Ama Et Fac Quod Vis
Love and do what you want
Saint Augustine (354 – 430 AD): Theologian and one of the Latin fathers of the Catholic Church. His writings have helped form the foundation of Christian doctrine. His book The Confessions of Saint Augustine is considered a classic philosophical and literary text and is well worth reading today.
Moral: This phrase may at first seem to offer license to do whatever you want in the name of love. However, this is not the case. For if one’s actions are rooted in love of God and His word, then whatever you do in the name of love will reflect the selflessness of His son’s redemptive sacrifice.
